Backyard Maple Sugaring
Canterbury Maple Festival - Free event (part of NH Maple Weekend March 23-24)
The sap will be running soon. Have you thought about making your own maple syrup? Want to know what equipment is needed?
Join Tim Fleury, UNH Extension Natural Resources Field Specialist, to learn the steps, from tree to table.
This workshop is for first timers and beginner sugar makers having less than 75 taps. All aspects of maple sugaring will be covered, including tree identification and tapping, collecting and boiling sap, finishing, filtering and packing syrup. Equipment and supplies needed, especially sizing and operating small evaporators, homemade and commercial, will also be discussed.
For persons with disabilties requiring special accommodations, please contact Canterbury Shaker Village prior to the event at 603-783-9511. Given ample time, we will make any reasonable effort to make accommodations. Visit www.shakers.org/canterbury-maple-festival/ for a full list of events at Canterbury Shaker Village's Maple Festival.
Taste and experience the history of sugaring!
