Garden Insect Identification Workshop
4:30pm - 6:30pm
NOT ALL BUGS ARE BAD!
If you are a gardener, chances are that you’ve come across a few insects that you can’t identify. Although some insects are definitely garden pests, not all bugs are bad. In fact, quite a few species of insects that frequent our gardens are beneficial and worth keeping around, and even worth encouraging!
This workshop will teach you the basics of insect identification. We’ll search Distant Hill Gardens for these six-legged creatures, and collect and identify those we find. You will learn how to spot both the good guys as well as the bad guys. We’ll discuss management strategies to help prevent insect injury to your plants, and you'll learn some of the ways you can promote beneficial predators and pollinators to visit your garden.
This workshop will be led by UNH Cheshire County Extension ag educator, Carl Majewski. Bring a hand lens or magnifying glass If you have one. If not, we will have a few to loan.
