NH Teen Conference 2017

Join us and your soon-to-be closest friends, for the experience of a lifetime at the 39th Annual NH 4-H Teen Conference, June 25 – 28.

If you’re not already a 4-H’er, come and check us out!

You’ll spend four days on the beautiful University of New Hampshire campus in Durham:

  • Making new friends, and re-connecting with some you haven’t seen for a while
  • Developing leadership skills that will last a lifetime
  • Get a taste of college life when you stay in a dorm and eat at our award-winning dining hall
  • Exploring the many resources available for you to realize your potential, as you attend the workshops of your choice

The Conference is open to all teens from across New Hampshire and neighboring states completing the 8th grade (or age 14 by 6/26/17) up through 12th grade.

New this year: 4-H members interested in participating in the 4-H Dairy Show at Eastern States Exposition can now qualify at one of the following fairs:

Cardboard Boat Regatta

New Hampshire 4-H is sponsoring the Youth Division of the Cardboard Boat Regatta at the Elkins Fish & Game Club's 5th Annual Lake-a-Thon! Youth must build, decorate and paddle their own boat but adult supervision is suggested to promote safety and design consultation. 

  • Youth division is open to ages 8-18

  • Entry fee is $5 per boat

  • Awards will be given to youth for "Best Construction Design", "Best Creative Design", "Most Spectacular Sinking", and "Fastest Team".

There will be a Cardboard Boat Regatta "Build" Training Day on April 27th at 6:30 PM at the Merrimack County 4-H Office at 315 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303. Contact Michelle Bersaw-Robblee at michelle.bersaw@unh.edu if you would like to use Zoom to attend the meeting in your county.

We are very sorry for the delay in getting the Stratham Fair Entry open this year.  The exciting news is that we have converted to an online system call FairEntry. This system is integrated with 4honline which should save you time entering fair information.

 

NEW ONLINE ENTRY SYSTEM WILL BE USED FOR ALL ANIMAL AND BUILDING EXHIBITS.  NO PAPER ENROLLMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED!

By the end of your week you will have a completed your own beautiful quilt to keep or give to someone special. Details are below, you will need to choose a pattern, pick out and purchase materials. Read though the quilt patterns to help choose, the materials will help you purchase the right amount. If you have questions about the patterns or purchasing materials feel free to call the 4-H office 447-3834. 

Remember, by attending the 4-H Summer Quilt Camp you are also committing to help sew the quilt for the 4-H Quilt Raffle at the Sandwich Fair. You will need to commit a total of nine hours spread out over the three days of the fair, October 7-9. Quilters have a great time during the Fair in the 4-H Exhibit Hall working on the quilt and talking to fair goers about 4-H and the quilt.

 

Your Day At 4-H Summer Quilt Camp 

The Quilt Camp will be held at the Sandwich Fairgrounds in the Smith & Hodges exhibit buildings.

 Please arrive between 8:00 – 8:30

 Be sure to Bring

  • All the fabric and materials for your quilt
  • Lunch each day, Dotty will have snacks
  • Warm clothes, these buildings can be chilly in the mornings and on rainy days
  • A swim suit, in case it gets hot and you need to play under the sprinkler for a bit

 Pick up is at 5:00 pm
