Maple Sugaring in the North Country: Past, Present & Future
This event will feature three guest speakers, a cooking demonstration, and a student art and work exhibit, all keeping with the theme of maple sugaring in New Hampshire’s Great North Woods.
Guest speakers include Lucien Blais, Bisson’s Sugar House, who will discuss experience and evolution of sugar making during his 46 years as a sugar producer. Jen Scarinza, White Mountains Regional High School and Scarinza's Sugarhouse, will cover different grades of syrup, highlighting the recent changes to the grading system. Her presentation will include a tasting. Steven Roberge, UNH Cooperative Extension, will speak on the future of the industry in regards to changing climate and other New Hampshire trends.
