Merrimack/Sullivan County Qualifying Horse Show
Merrimack County 4-H and Sullivan County 4-H are holding the 2018 Qualifying Horse Show on Sunday, June 10th at the Hopkinton State Fairground with the show starting at 8:00 AM.
Registrations due May 18th to the Merrimack County 4-H Office!
This show is for youth 12 and older and is a way to evaluate the 4-Hers and horse’s abilities to determine their readiness to attend a larger competitive show. For youth 8-11 we encourage participation in the qualifying show as a time to gain more experience in the ring surrounded by supportive adults. In some years, there is an increased number of 4-Hers participating in the 4-H equine project and it is necessary to limit the number of youth each county may send onto the State Equine Show. In those years the county qualifying show also provides an additional evaluation system where points are awarded and county team members are chosen on a point system. Individuals with the highest score (within our quota) will represent the county. In years when there is no quota per county the Merrimack County delegation will be comprised of members who receive a score of 310 or higher. Regardless of score or quota numbers if an individual and/or horse is deemed unsafe or unprepared by show officials they will not be eligible to attend State Show.
