Is New Hampshire the Next Thing in Barrel Aged Beers?

Join UNH Extension and Northwoods Brewing Company for a beer filled hour on December 10th at 7:00pm! We will chat with Ron Raiselis of R.P Raiselis Cooperage about creating beer casks by hand and see how this historic craft is still done today.  We will learn about this potential emerging market for the local forest industry from Andy Fast of the UNH Extension.  Finally, we will be guided through the session by Cheryl of the UNH Brewing Science Lab and Cathi Frakes and Ian Goering of Northwoods Brewing Company on barrel aged beer creation, tasting, and food pairing.  Northwoods Brewing Company is the first brewery to use barrels manufactured with American beech from New Hampshire.  This was made possible through the support of the New England Society of American Foresters.  Learn more about the results of that process as you explore the world of barrel aged beer.

We will be sending all pre-registered participants a list of beers the week prior that the hosts will be drinking.  Feel free to pick up some for yourself, or join in with whatever your favorite beverage is!
