NH 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Training
The New Hampshire 4-H Shooting Sports Program is hosting a workshop to certify volunteer leaders to teach one of the following Program disciplines*: archery, black powder, pistol, rifle and shotgun.
Sessions will begin Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. and continue all day and through the evening. We’ll wrap up Sunday around 2:00 p.m. Early arrival begins 4 p.m. on May 17.
If you’re interested in the 4-H Shooting Sports project, then get out your calendar and save the weekend of May 18-19. This is when the New Hampshire 4-H Shooting Sports Program will host a workshop to certify volunteer leaders at the Barry Conservation 4-H Camp in Berlin. Participants must be enrolled 4-H adults or teens (age 16 and older). Shooting experience is not essential, but a willingness to learn about how to work effectively with youth is.
The shooting sports project is a little bit different than most other 4-H projects because leaders must be officially certified before they can teach youth. During this weekend workshop leaders will be trained to teach in one discipline. Choose from archery, black powder, pistol, rifle, or shotgun. Once trained, adults will be certified to teach their discipline to youth participating in a formal 4-H shooting sports program.
All sessions will be conducted in the 4-H way - “learn by doing.” There will be approximately 12 hours of discipline-specific instruction and 6 hours focusing on youth development and how to work effectively with youth. The registration fee is $50 for New Hampshire volunteers and $75 for those from other states.
Registration will be on-line only this year with a May 6 deadline. l. Please note that deposits are not refundable if cancellation is made after May 6. Visit the NH 4-H Shooting Sports website to learn more or contact Larry Barker, NH 4-H Shooting Sports Coordinator, to learn more. firstname.lastname@example.org or 788-4961.
