Rockingham County 4-H 2020 Winter Hiking Challenge Kickoff and Wildside Craftapalooza
Kick off your 2020 Winter Hiking Challenge with a Hike with Mike and Wildside crafting session! The first part of the day will be spent learning how to make your own hiking- and camping-related snacks and gear, and the second part of the day will be a light hike in the woods led by a naturalist. It will be a great time with friends, food, and a forest. Lunch will be a taco-themed potluck.
The Winter Hiking Challenge works like a scavenger hunt where you can choose and complete 5 hikes before spring. This Hike with Mike counts as one of your hikes. We have created a booklet you can use to log your hikes, which also describes the rules for the challenge. When you have completed all your hikes, you will hand in your booklet to earn your hiking challenge patch. We will hand out the official booklets at this kickoff event, but if you want to get started or you can’t make it to the kickoff, you can download a printable version of the booklet here:
The Winter Hiking Challenge is the first phase of our 2020 4-H Wildside Challenge, which will also include a spring Rock Climbing Challenge and an Orienteering Challenge in late spring. If you complete all three challenges and earn a patch for each, you will receive a 4-H Wildside zip-up hoodie where you can place your patches! Learn more about the full Wildside Challenge here.
Please register for this event via 4HOnline by Tuesday, January 21, 2020.
