Youth Health Equity Photovoice Project
IF YOU ARE YOUTH FROM SULLIVAN AND CHESHIRE COUNTY BETWEEN 8-18 YEARS OLD AND WANT TO JOIN PEERS VIRTUALLY TO MAKE A CHANGE IN YOUR COMMUNITY WE HAVE A PROJECT FOR YOU!
What is Photovoice? Photovoice is an international project that invites underrepresented people, like young people, to share their life experience through photographs with their peers. Together the group decides on an issue they would like to explore more (mental health, homelessness, food insecurity or food waste are examples). This is about what YOU are living every day and how it impacts you. Each person will explore their environment to document what they see through photos in their home, school, and community center. The group will come together with an adult facilitator to talk about what they have noticed. Photovoice is a way to reflect, talk, learn, share, and make a difference for yourself and others in your community.
- Allows young people to feel heard; their lives and opinions matter!
- Raises awareness about issues that are important to YOU and your friends.
- It is a project that will help you and your friends feel better about where you live.
- It counts towards community service hours for school!
