Judith joined the staff of Extension in March 2019 as the County Master Gardener Coordinator in Grafton County.  She develops and coordinates communication and programming for Master Gardeners and Interns throughout the county.

Judith has a life-long interest in gardening and has grown things, indoors and out, whenever and wherever, possible.  Everyone in her family was in some way connected to horticulture and landscape design.  Her first gardening lesson from her mother was planting nasturtium seeds, which she quickly learned needed poor, dry soil to flower, perfect for their yard.

Judith earned advanced degrees in art and architectural history at UMASS, Amherst and Columbia University and she spent her early career teaching in professional schools of architecture. She included many aspects of landscape history in her courses, with emphasis on the opportunities to design gardens that women found in the early twentieth century.

A New Englander by birth and preference, Judith became a permanent resident of New Hampshire in 2017, after years of moving around the country.  She is not new to the state, having spent summers in the White Mountains from the time she was a toddler.  Her memories of the area are deep and nourishing.

In 2018, she took the Master Gardener course in Goffstown, something that she had wanted to do for a long time. She found many Eureka! moments over the twelve weeks and wondered why she hadn’t signed up sooner!
