Casey Porter

Community & Economic Development Program Manager

Casey works with communities to build their capacity to gather input, develop strategies, and move to action, resulting in downtown revitalization, community vibrancy, and a strengthened economy. She coordinates and implements programs around downtown revitalization and community visioning, and coordinates the Community Engagement Academy. Casey also provides information and assistance to communities around topics such as community engagement, facilitation, and action planning.

Prior to joining UNH Cooperative Extension, Casey most recently worked at North Carolina Cooperative Extension as a Community Resource Development Extension Agent, working to engage the community to strengthen the local food system and provide educational programming to encourage economic development through tourism development. She also served as a FoodCorps volunteer for one year in North Carolina working to build school and community gardens and bring local produce into school cafeterias in low resource communities. Her interest in community development stems from a passion for community food systems. Casey earned a Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Studies with a concentration in community development from the University of Vermont and a Master's of Science in Natural Resources from the University of New Hampshire. Casey's master's thesis focused on public participation in food systems decision-making.
