Nursery & Landscape Horticulture State Specialist Emeritus
Cathy retired from full-time work in October, 2019*. She was a State Extension Specialist/Professor with UNH for twenty years, working with commercial horticulture clientele in the state to maintain professionalism in the green industry and to encourage sustainable practices and designs. She is well-known for her educational leadership in landscaping for water quality and in planting for pollinators.
Complimenting her Extension work, Cathy has been an active Researcher with the NH Agricultural Experiment Station (NHAES). For the last ten years, she has investigated seed mixes and strategies for establishing intensive wildflower meadows. Besides providing high quality pollinator habitat, they provide multiple ecosystem services including biodiversity and wildlife habitat, water and soil conservation, nutrient storage and recycling, and enhance the human connection to nature and beauty.
