Michael Young

Youth & Family Program Leader

Mike is the Program Team Leader for Youth & Family programs. He has worked in the field of experiential education for over 20 years. Before taking the job as Youth and Family Program Team Leader in 2012, Mike was an Extension Educator for 4-H Youth development in Rockingham County. Prior to his work with UNH Cooperative Extension, Mike worked in the field of outdoor education with a focus on youth at risk. This work included: developing a web-based practice research network involving over 25 different residential treatment facilities across North America; facilitating and analyzing an Appreciative Inquiry at an alternative school in Massachusetts; convening the international 2007 Adventure Therapy Best Practices Conference; leading international youth development experiences; and managing North Star Adventure, a community-based therapeutic adventure program serving special-needs and at risk families in Massachusetts.

Mike has PhD in Education from UNH, a Masters in Education from Harvard and a BA in History from Brown University.
