Using Herbicides to Manage Invasive Plants

Join Extension Foresters Mike Gagnon and Dode Gladders, for this hands-on workshop focused on using herbicides to manage upland non-native invasive plant species in New Hampshire. The first half of this workshop will be an indoor discussion covering integrated pest management, herbicide application techniques, and specific treatments for common upland invasive species. The second half of the program will be a hands-on field session with demonstrations of various application techniques including foliar, basal bark, cut stump, and hack-and-squirt. Emphasis will be placed on applicator and environmental safety, use of personal protective equipment, mixing and loading, advantages and disadvantages of various techniques, and timing for best results.  

What to Bring: Comfortable shoes, clothes appropriate for the field (sun and bug protection), hat, water bottle.
