Science Bonanza
Registration opens November 4 and Closes December 2
As parents, you’re always looking for enriching experiences that can inspire your children’s interests and spark their curiosity. If your child has a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), the University of New Hampshire's 4-H Science Bonanza might just be the perfect event to consider. This exciting day is designed to engage young minds and provide hands-on learning opportunities that can inspire future careers.
Why Attend?
1. Hands-On Learning
One of the standout features of the Science Bonanza is its emphasis on experiential learning. Children will have the chance to participate in hands-on workshops that encourage exploration and critical thinking. This immersive approach not only enhances understanding but also makes science fun and accessible.
2. Meet Experts
Your child will have the opportunity to meet and interact with professionals in various fields. This exposure can help them gain insight into potential career paths and the educational paths that lead to them. These interactions can be motivating, as young participants see real-world applications of the subjects they study.
3. Collaborative Environment
The event promotes teamwork and collaboration, key skills in both academic and professional settings. Children will work alongside peers, encouraging communication and problem-solving abilities as they tackle projects together.
4. Explore Diverse Topics
The range of activities available means that there’s something for every interest. From biology and chemistry to computer science and environmental studies, your child can explore multiple fields and discover new passions. This diversity can be particularly beneficial for those still deciding which areas of science they are most interested in.

2. Encourage Curiosity
In the weeks leading up to the event, encourage your child to think about what they hope to learn or explore. Discussing their interests can help them get the most out of their experience. Consider making a list of questions they’d like to ask during the event.
3. Pack Smart
Lunch will not be provided, but the event includes a lunch break. Therefore, we suggest pack a nutritious meal and snacks to keep your child energized. Comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes are also a must, especially if any hands-on experiments take place outdoors.
4. Follow Up After the Event
After the Science Bonanza, sit down with your child to discuss their favorite parts of the day. What did they learn? Did they discover a new interest? This conversation can reinforce the day’s experiences and help them reflect on their learning.
The University of New Hampshire’s 4-H Science Bonanza is more than just a fun day out; it’s an investment in your child’s future. By participating in this event, they will gain invaluable experiences that can shape their educational journey and ignite a lifelong passion for science.
