2024 Sunflower Growing Competition

We will follow up with families throughout the summer on our Sullivan County 4-H Facebook page with hints and tips about growing sunflowers. You too can post pictures of your flowers as they grow. If everything goes correctly, your flowers will bloom in August just in time for the fair.

 We’ll have categories at the fair for:

• Tallest Flower photograph
• Best Sunflower photograph
• The Largest Flower Head Entry

The actual flower head can be entered in the fair. We will measure the diameter of the seed head. The yellow petals will not be measured. The measurement will be taken across the head containing the sunflower seeds. Heads should be cut from the stem before coming to the fair.
