This year's Merrimack County 4-H Garden Clinic will feature a new and exciting challenge: make your own salsa! This two-part series will feature growing tomatoes, cilantro, and jalapenos, to then create your own salsa to enter in the Hopkinton State Fair 4-H Exhibit Hall!

*ONLY YOUTH WHO HAVE ATTENDED PART 1 ARE ELIGIBLE TO ATTEND PART 2  OF THIS WORKSHOP SERIES!*

Part 1: Seed It

Wednesday, April 6, 2022, 6:00pm, Merrimack County Extension Office

On this evening, 4-Hers will receive their cilantro and jalapeno seedlings and pots to transplant the plants into. The clinic will feature a workshop lead by Master Gardener Meg Miller on tips and tricks to make this project successful! Coupons will be given out to pick up a tomato plant from Bow Blue Seal in May, when their tomato plants arrive.

Part 2: Make it

Monday, August 22, 2022, 6:30pm, Concord Regional Technical Center

With Mother Nature’s cooperation, all your ingredients will have grown and be ready to harvest. Join us for a workshop on making your own salsa, so that you can try it out along with the presenter! Practice at home, and then make your own jar of salsa and recipe card to enter at the Hopkinton Fair!

Registration:

  • Open to youth 8-18 years old.
  • Register through 4HOnline by April 1, 2022.
