For youth and adult audiences

4-H Shooting Sports is a hands-on project for youth and adult audiences. The curriculum is designed to assist young people in personal development, establish a personal environmental ethic and explore life-long vocational and leisure activities. Participants will be able to enjoy many opportunities from the local level to national events.

New Hampshire 4-H Shooting Sports offers five disciplines: archery, black powder, rifle, pistol, and shotgun.  Each discipline teaches safety, concentration, self-discipline, self-confidence, goal setting, and decision making as the youth learn basic skills and build toward more advanced activities.

Volunteers wishing to support youth in this program, must first be a screened 4-H volunteer and obtain their National 4-H Shooting Sports Primer Certification before taking Instructor Training courses to earn certification in a discipline.

  • The National 4-H Shooting Sports Instructor Primer is available through ZSuite at 4-hshootingsportscollege.com.  Volunteers new to the shooting sports program must take and complete the online certification before they attend in-person discipline training. The primer is a one-time training and there is a cost of $20. (A limited number of scholarships are available to individuals unable to pay.)
