4-H Wildside Summer Hiking Challenge 2024

-
Mixed Online/In-Person

The 4-H Wildside Summer Hiking Challenge starts July 29, 2024 and runs until September 13, 2024.

Welcome to NH 4-H’s Summer Hiking Challenge. This one is just as fun to accomplish as the others and as sure to get you in touch with your wildside as ever! Do not miss out on the action and adventure this summer. This project is designed for families to do at their convenience, and it is IDEAL for 4-H Clubs to do together.

GET OUT THERE!

The Challenge

There are 8 eligible features you can hike:

  • Exposed Summit
  • State Park
  • Fire Tower
  • Pond or Lake
  • Town Forest
  • 4,000 Footer
  • Waterfall
  • Hike with 4-H Club

This Challenge requires you to select any 3 you choose, complete the hikes within the duration of the challenge and log your trips using your logbook. Once completed, submit your logbook to get your Summer Hiking Challenge patch. That’s it. Pretty simple, huh?

The Challenge Booklet will walk you through the challenge, advise you on how to select your trails, help you pack for the hikes & remain as safe as possible, and describe how to submit your booklet when you have completed the challenge. Just a note: No doubling up hikes. Example: A hike to a fire tower and pond will count as 1 hike for either. If you hiked for the State Parks Challenge, that hike can be retroactively applied.

How It Works

When you register you will be mailed a Challenge Booklet which will walk you through the challenge, advise you on how to select your trails, help you pack for the hikes & remain as safe as possible. It will describe how to submit your booklet when you have completed the challenge to receive your patch.
