Annually, Merrimack County 4-H hosts the Garden Clinic. This event features a new theme every year where youth learn how to grow something at home, and turn it into a product to use later on.

This year’s theme is cooking herbs!

Session One: March 19, 2025

Bon appétit or buon appetito backyard gardeners! For this event we will be planting a window herb garden that you can harvest all year round for your cooked dishes or to use as garnishes. At this workshop one of our Master Gardeners will be providing background and education about growing and harvesting the herbs. We will have a selection from which you will choose three themed herbs to grow for use in either Italian or French dishes. Share your herbs and recipes at the Hopkinton Fair this summer! We will be making fun and creative plant tags as well. All materials will be provided.

Session Two: July 20, 2025

Stay tuned for more information.

BRINGING YOUR EXHIBIT TO THE 4-H EXHBIT HALL AT HOPKINTON STATE FAIR

Cooking herbs such as basil, rosemary, oregano, mint, sage, thyme, etc. should be used in this container garden. Herbs will be judged on their quality of product, arrangement, and container. See scoresheet for additional judging criteria. The top 3 entries will be awarded additional prizes of $50.00, $25.00 and $15.00 from the Merrimack County 4-H Foundation.
