While celebrations for high school seniors had to be altered, postponed or canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to recognize the hard work, commitment and talent of NH 4-H members of the Class of 2020! We know that the memories, learning experiences and friendships from 4-H will continue to serve you in the years ahead. Here is a glimpse into the accomplishments and future plans of these recent graduates.
Christian Baduria from Hillsborough County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the robotics project area. As a recent graduate of the Academy for Science and Design, Christian plans on attending a four-year university to reach his goal of engaging and collaborating with other programming to conduct research on Artificial Intelligence furthering the progress of self-driving cars. One of Christian’s favorite 4-H memories is his last FIRST robotics competition in Massachusetts, marking his final moments with his team.
Danielle DeBlois from Coös County has been participating in 4-H for 13 years in the community service, beef, dairy and leadership project areas. As a recent graduate of Colebrook Academy, Danielle will be a pre-vet major at the University of New Hampshire with the goal of becoming a large animal veterinarian. Danielle’s favorite 4-H memories were spending long nights at the Lancaster Fair playing cards with her friends and having fun.
Cooper Chapin of Strafford County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the sheep project area. Cooper plans to spend two more years at Dover High School training to work at a veterinary hospital. Cooper’s favorite 4-H memory was when his whole 4-H club went to Indiana to show their sheep at the All-American Junior Sheep Show.
Clara Cooper of Merrimack County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the citizenship, community service, dog, horticulture, leadership and textiles and clothing project areas. As a recent graduate of Concord High School, Clara plans to attend the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Clara’s favorite 4-H memory is attending National 4-H Congress in 2019 where she met amazing people from all over the country who made a huge impact on her worldview and what she wants to do in the future!
Ryan Edgar from Hillsborough County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the robotics project area. As a recent graduate of Goffstown High School, Ryan plans to attend Plymouth State University to study electromechanical technology and robotics. Ryan has many great memories from 4-H, but he enjoyed spending time with his teammates, community service over the holidays and of course building the robot!
Emma Galonski of Merrimack County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the citizenship, community service, leadership, shooting sports, textiles, clothing, and crafts project areas. As a recent graduate of Merrimack Valley High School, Emma plans on a gap year to further the expansion her business and getting a second job to help pay for collage. After the first year she plans on attending NHTI for two years to get her core classes out of the way, then transferring to Roger Williams University (where she is already accepted) to major in Marine biology and minor in business. Next year she will be a counselor at Barry Conservation Camp and is super excited! Emma’s favorite 4-H memory was her first teen conference and sewing her own outfit and then being on stage sharing it.
Jason Haley of Rockingham County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the robotics project area. As a recent graduate of Windham High School, Jason will be attending Western New England University majoring in mechanical engineering with a concentration in mechatronics. Jason has made some amazing memories in his time with Windham Windup Robotics including traveling to compete throughout the district, building relationships, attending the World Championships and meeting his idol Dr. Woodie Flowers.
Samson Hodges from Hillsborough County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the robotics project area. As a recent graduate of Milford High School, Samson will be attending Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he will be playing football and working towards a mechanical engineering degree. One of Samson’s favorite memories was traveling with his robotics team (Team Inconceivable) to the World Championships in Detroit in 2018 and 2019.
Adrienne Hook of Coös County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the community service, dairy and foods and nutrition project areas. As a recent graduate of Colebrook Academy, Adrienne will be working on her family farm before attending school for early childhood education. Adrienne’s favorite 4-H memory was showing at the Lancaster Fair and having a chicken run under her feet!
Kyleigh Gordon of Cheshire County has been participating in 4-H for one year in the dairy and beef project areas. As a recent graduate of Keene High School, Kyleigh plans on going straight into the workforce and moving to Tennessee to reach her dream of being a cattle farmer for both beef and dairy. While there, she wants to get involved with her community so kids who show and are in 4-H can rent/lease both cattle and space in her barn if they aren’t able to do so themselves. Kyleigh’s favorite 4-H memory was from this year – always laughing and having fun at meetings.
Hailey King of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for 13 years in the citizenship, community service, foods and nutrition, arts and crafts, leadership, and textiles and clothing project areas. A recent graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School, Hailey will be attending the University of New Hampshire to become a kindergarten teacher. Hailey’s favorite 4-H memory is when her club got to march in the Memorial Day Parade.
Nathan L. of Coös County has been participating in 4-H for nine years in the community service, dairy and leadership project areas. As a recent graduate of Colebrook Academy, Nathan will be attending the University of New Hampshire for mechanical engineering and hopes to stay in the New England area to work in the field. Nathan’s favorite 4-H memory was meeting all his friends, specifically at the Lancaster Fair where we would help out every year and sometimes exhibit his animals.
Austin L. of Merrimack County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the citizenship, community service, horticulture, leadership and working steer project areas. As a recent graduate of Pembroke Academy, Austin plans on going straight into the workforce and is planning on getting his CDL so he can drive tractor trailers.
Mackenzie Laundry of Coös County has been participating in 4-H for seven years in the community service, foods and nutrition, leadership, arts and crafts and sheep project areas. As a recent graduate of Groveton High School, Mackenzie will be majoring in allied health science to reach her goal of becoming a physician’s assistant. Mackenzie’s favorite 4-H memory was during the Lancaster Fair when she spent most of the night listening to music and playing card games with other 4-H’ers.
Andie Majewski of Cheshire County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the animal science, public speaking, leadership and community service project areas. As a recent graduate of Keene High School, Andie plans to attend the University of New Hampshire for animal science. Andie's favorite 4-H memory was attending several national 4-H trips and making friends from across the country, in addition to serving on the NH 4H State Youth Leadership Team and the NH 4-H Teen Commission!
Willa McGough of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for eight years in the dairy project area. As a recent graduate of Kimball Union Academy, Willa plans to attend Wellesley College where she will be playing soccer. While she is undecided in her major, she is interested in psychology, neuroscience and gender and women’s studies. Willa’s favorite 4-H memory is going to the Cornish Fair because of the great people and the fun environment.
Paige McNamara of Hillsborough County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the robotics project area. As a recent graduate of Manchester High School West, Paige plans on attending SNHU to major in mechanical engineering and secondary education.
Montana P. of Merrimack County has been participating in 4-H for eight years in the community service and leadership project areas. A recent graduate of Bow High School, Montana will be a vet tech major with minors in equine studies and pre-vet to then get her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with the goal of beaming a large animal vet. Montana’s favorite 4-H memory was working at the ice cream parlor at the county fair and getting to meet and work with great people.
Calvin Plunkett of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for 11 years in the citizenship, community service, robotics, sewing, and arts and crafts project areas. As a recent graduate of the Virtual Learning Academy Charter School, Calvin will be headed to the honors college in UMass Lowell. Calvin enjoys being a teacher and mentor to younger members, something that meant a lot to them when they were younger.
Morganne Moses of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for nine years in the community service, leadership, and sheep project areas. Morganne plans to attend River Valley Community College to get her associate’s degree in criminal justice. Her plan is to become either a K-9 handler or K-9 trainer. “The reason I want to get into this field is because I want to serve and protect, make the citizens feel safe. I know it is a scary time for police officers right now, but honestly it makes me want to do it even more to show and prove that police officers are here to help, here to serve and protect, here for people to trust and not be scared of, and to show that not all police officers are the same,” she says. Morganne has made many amazing memories in her time with 4-H but her favorite highlights are Teen Conference and participating in the fairs.
Kris R. of Cheshire County has been participating in 4-H for eight years in the foods and nutrition, horticulture, poultry and art project areas. As a recent graduate of Keene High School, Kris plans on a taking a gap year to work in a restaurant, then go to school for culinary arts and pursue a career as a private chef. Kris’ favorite 4-H memory was all the county fairs and shows where she was able to exhibit her poultry with her friends.
Elizabeth Rice of Rockingham County has been participating in 4-H for four years in the horse project area. As a recent graduate of Timberlane High School, Elizabeth plans on attending trade school; at the moment she is attending NETTTS to get her CDLA so she can drive tractor trailers. Elizabeth’s favorite 4-H memory was the horse shows and the meetings she had with her 4-H friends.
Olivia R. from Merrimack County has been participating in 4-H for five years in citizenship, community service and craft projects project areas. Olivia will be attending Magdalen College of the Liberal Arts and while she is undecided in her major, she hopes to have a fine arts minor with the goal of owning a small business to sell her art or make art for a good cause. Olivia’s favorite 4-H memories are the times she spent at honors evenings, friends, fairs and getting involved with the community.
Sophia Szaniawski of Rockingham County has been participating in 4-H for eight years in the horse project area. As a recent graduate of Sanborn Regional High School, Sophia plans on attending Roger Williams University to major in forensic biology. Sophia’s favorite 4-H memory was getting together with other clubs at the county and state horse shows.
Meaghan Taylor of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the leadership and poultry project areas. As a recent graduate of Stevens High School, Meaghan will be attending Southern Maine Community College for business. Meaghan’s favorite 4-H memories were going to the Cornish Fair every year, raising money for her club and showing poultry.
Lauren Tyler from Coös County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the citizenship, community service, foods and nutrition, horticulture, leadership, poultry, rabbits/cavies, sheep, shooting sports and textiles and clothing project areas. As a recent graduate of Groveton High School, Lauren will be attending White Mountains Community College to complete her general studies before transferring to the University of New Hampshire to complete her bachelor’s degree in animal science. She then hopes to go on to graduate school for her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Upon graduating she would like to return to her home area and open a large and small animal mixed practice alongside a longtime friend. With so many great 4-H memories, Lauren could never pick just one. However, some of her fondest memories include Teen Conference, 4-H sheep shows, serving as a State Youth Leadership Team member, working with the Coös County Advisory Council and any interactions with all the great 4-H members, staff and volunteers!
Evan Woodman of Sullivan County has been participating in 4-H for 10 years in the working steer project area. As a recent graduate of Stevens High School, Evan will be attending SUNY Morrisville for agricultural mechanics. One of Evan’s favorite 4-H memories was showing at fairs and being able to compete at the Big E.
Xanthi from Strafford County has been participating in 4-H for nine years in the citizenship, community service, leadership, shooting sports and textiles and clothing project areas. As a recent graduate of Oyster River High School, Xanthi plans to attend the University of New Hampshire to study communications. Xanthi’s favorite 4-H memories were her trips to National Congress and Conference, spending time with friends at fairs and being an officer on the State Youth Leadership Team.
