Promote 4-H throughout Grafton County by putting up a display in your yard during National 4-H Week, October 3-9, 2021. Use your design to encourage new families to join the program and to celebrate how much you love 4-H!
Use haybales, wooden boards, scarecrows, leaves, banners, pumpkins, 4-H clovers, signs, recyclables, toys, whatever you have to create your display. Photograph your creation, then, register your display. Photos will be posted on-line where the public can vote for their favorite entry. The display that collects the most votes will earn a prize.
Guidelines
Displays should:
- Promote 4-H.
- Be in place by October 2 and remain in place until October 10.
- Be a minimum of 3 feet across. (There is no maximum size.)
- Be outside and easily seen by those who walk or drive by.
- Be completed by:
- An individual OR
- A family OR
- A group or club (if UNH Extension / CDC guidance allows)
- Only include 4-H appropriate content.
- Only contain props that can withstand any rain, wind, and sun that the display may experience during the week.
Tips for 4-H'ers
- Talk with the adults in your home to help select a location that will work well for your display. Since your display will be in place for a week, be sure it is out of the way of walking, lawn mowing, parking cars, etc.
- Decide if you’ll be doing the display on your own, or if others will join you.
- Gather as many props as possible before you start designing.
- Make your display easy to read and eye-catching. Consider using bright colors to attract attention.
- Be creative and be flexible. If something doesn’t work, try something else.
- Be sure to have fun. After all, that is the whole point!
