What is the 4-H Foundation?

Since 1958, the 4-H Foundation of New Hampshire has been primarily responsible for private resource development for the 4-H Youth Development program of UNH Cooperative Extension.

The Foundation raises funds through activities like an annual golf tournament (which has shifted this year to a virtual trivia night), an ice cream booth at the NH Farm and Forest Expo, participation in events such as The 603 Challenge and annual appeals.

The funds are stewarded in an overall general fund as well as funds specific for various project work such as equine and dairy or camp scholarships and leadership development for club members.

Why is the 4-H Foundation Work Important?

4-H is the largest youth organization in the country with more than six million members. Youth build life skills by leading hands-on projects in areas like science, health, agriculture and civic engagement – helping them to grow confidence, independence, resilience and compassion. Adult mentors provide a positive environment where they learn by doing. This 4-H experience is delivered by a community of more than 100 public universities across the nation.

4-H gives young people guidance, tools and encouragement, and then puts them in the driver’s seat to make great things happen. Independent research proves the unparalleled impact of the 4-H experience in the lives of youth.

How Can You Support the 4-H Foundation?
