Join UNH Extension, the NH State Barn Committee, and project partners in celebrating the long-anticipated launch of the NH Barn Trail. This tourism/educational trail currently includes 31 historic barn properties across the state that welcome visitors of all ages to enjoy a variety of activities and offerings.
This special launch event will include a series of brief presentations on barn history and architecture, visitor information on how to enjoy the NH Barn Trail, local barn poetry, and more! Following the presentations, there will be an optional sunset tour of the Gilmanton Year-Round Library barn (fun fact: it’s one of three libraries included on the Trail) and a social reception featuring light refreshments.
Presenters include:
- John Porter, UNH Cooperative Extension (Emeritus) and author of “Preserving Old Barns: Preventing the Loss of a Valuable Resource”
- Beverly Thomas, NH Preservation Alliance
- Jada Lindblom, UNH Cooperative Extension
- Ryan Cutting, UNH History alum/research intern
- Jeffrey Zygmont, writer and poet
- Steve Bedard, Bedard Preservation and Restoration
The NH Barn Trail project was spearheaded by the NH Barn Committee in collaboration with the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance, the NH Division of Historical Resources, the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food, and the NH Division of Travel and Tourism Development. Special thanks to the Gilmanton Year-Round Library for helping to host this event! For more information on the NH Barn Trail, visit https://extension.unh.edu/resource/new-hampshire-barn-trail.
