Do You Need A Pesticide Applicator License?
The difference between a private and commercial license, a general-use and restricted-use license, and a pesticide dealer license.
The State of New Hampshire Pesticide Licensing Requirements pertain to 1) anyone using Restricted-Use pesticides, 2) anyone applying any Restricted or General-Use pesticides (any pesticide) in the course of employment, and 3) it is important to note that a person using a General-Use pesticide on his or her own property is exempt. Pesticides can pose hazards to humans, so it is important that an applicator be safe. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is one way in which an applicator can keep themselves safe from pesticide exposure. PPE is defined as gear that is worn to help prevent pesticides from entering or getting on to the body.
This course is designed to remind applicators to the severity of pesticide poisoning and how this poisoning depends on the pesticide's chemical makeup and formulation, its path into the body, the amount that enters the body, and the length of exposure. Wearing PPE can greatly reduce the potential for dermal, inhalation, eye, and oral exposure, and thereby significantly reducing the chances of a pesticide poisoning, but it does not necessarily eliminate it.
