Bringing Citizen Science to Schools Through Teacher-Volunteer Partnerships
Schoolyard SITES (Schoolyard Science Investigations by Teachers, Extension Volunteers and Students) partners UNH Extension science-based volunteers with NH elementary teachers. Together, they explore, develop, and implement citizen science projects that relate to New Hampshire's natural world and engage elementary students in NGSS-aligned, inquiry projects in the schoolyard.
What is Citizen Science?
A process by which both professional and volunteer scientists collaborate to investigate the world around them.
Collaborative workshops led by UNH education and citizen science professionals support teacher-volunteer teams design a project for students, as well as contribute to science education improvement research.
