Designed for municipal leaders and staff, local businesses, and volunteers, the Outdoor Economy Academy offers a place‑based learning experience for a statewide cohort working in planning and economic development who want to deepen their understanding of New Hampshire’s outdoor economy.
The Academy includes three in‑person sessions, each running 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. and featuring a local walking field trip, guest panel discussion, hands‑on activity, and coffee and lunch.
Session 1 - May 14, Nashua, NH: Focus on access to trails and open spaces, including a tour of the new riverwalk.
Session 2 - May 21, Penacook, NH: Explore downtowns, rivers, and redevelopment/reclamation, with a tour of a new riverside park and development.
Session 3 - June 4, Plymouth, NH: Emphasis on hazard mitigation and resilience with a downtown and riverside tour.
A key goal of the Academy is to help those working in the Outdoor Economy space make connections with one another. This cohort model requires registrants to commit to fully attending all three Academy sessions before registering.
A UNH Microcredential via a digital badge from the University of New Hampshire will be issued upon completion of all three sessions.
Academy Fee: $300, includes three full days of training, access to online materials, coffee, lunch, and a UNH digital Microcredential.
