Cover crops are important tools in improving or maintaining soil health. This class will provide an introduction to the concept of cover cropping but will focus heavily on the skill of calibrating a drill seeder. We’ll also look at the use of no-till seed drills for establishing cover crops, getting familiar with how they work and how to operate them. This is a hands-on, active learning workshop that will feature a Great Plains drill owned by the Hillsborough County Conservation District. While this is primarily focused on Hillsborough County, all are welcome to attend.

This work is supported by the Beginner Farmer Rancher Development Program, project award no.2024-49400-43622, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture.
