After graduating from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Soil Science in 1991, Seth joined the Peace Corps and lived in a village in Senegal, West Africa. It was there that he developed his passion for agricultural Extension, teaching village farmers techniques to increase crop yields, soil fertility and food storage methods. Following his Peace Corps experience, he enrolled in a Masters Degree program in Soil Science and Agronomy at the University of Wisconsin. Seth joined UNH Cooperative Extension in August of 2000. Although he came here as a soil scientist and began working with farmers on nutrient management topics, his career took a sharp turn into farm management. Seth became a certified educator in Holistic Management, working with producers on whole farm planning. Seth continues that work today, and is also expanding his skills to help producers examine the financial health of their agricultural businesses. In addition to working with the agricultural community through UNH Cooperative Extension, Seth has been a member of the Sullivan County Farm Bureau Board of Directors and serves on statewide NH Farm Bureau committees. Seth is also an active member of the Full Circle Farm Therapeutic Horsemanship Board of Directors.
When not working Seth loves hiking with his dog, spending time with his wife and kids, traveling, and using his sauna. Seth has a lifelong appreciation for New England farmers and the northeastern landscape, making UNHCE his dream job.
