The 4-H Kindness Matters Scholarship will be awarded to a Junior or Senior who embodies the mission of 4-H to “make the best better” and reflect the true meaning of kindness and empathy towards others. The recipient will have demonstrated authentic, consistent and far-reaching acts of kindness. Please complete the application (due March 25) for an opportunity to be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship.
Awardee will receive $2,500 towards post-secondary goals and be announced at the banquet at the Grit to Grow Summit in June.

Information You Need to Know
Criteria for Applying
- 4-H member for at least 4 years in total
- Rising Junior or Senior
- Clear plan for post-secondary goals illustrated in application
- Awardee will serve on following year’s Kindness Award Committee
Application Process
- Qualtrics Application that includes contact information, short answers and essay
- Letters of reference given by (1) peer AND (1) adult that is not a parent/caregiver
- W-9 via email to Kristen.Lyons@unh.edu
How are Applications Evaluated?
Recipients will be selected at the state level by a committee made up of 4-H alum and Extension staff based on their application essay, demonstrated community involvement and financial need.
