UNH Extension Volunteer Standards of Conduct Template Language

All Extension volunteers are asked to agree to Standards of Conduct while serving in their volunteer role. This is the template language (individual programs made add additional responsibilities). 

As a volunteer for UNH Cooperative Extension, I agree to fulfill the following responsibilities while serving in this role: 

1. Be respectful and courteous to all program participants, volunteers, Extension staff, and others.

2. Communicate calmly and positively. Using abusive or vulgar language is not acceptable. Difficult conversations will sometimes be necessary; handle them with respect and calmness.

3. Ensure equal access to all Extension programs, including making reasonable efforts to meet participants' needs in accordance with the American with Disability (ADA), and collaborating with staff to provide accommodations.

4. Ensure the safety of all youth, participants, and volunteers involved in the program.

5. Not use my status as an UNH Extension volunteer for personal or business financial gain and strive to avoid conflicts of interest.

6. Comply with state, federal, and UNH equal opportunity and non-discrimination laws and guidelines. Our programs and policies are consistent with pertinent federal and state laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, family/parental status, genetic information, pregnancy, income derived from a public assistance program, political orientation, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

7. Report all incidents of sexual misconduct, harassment, and report all suspected and known child abuse/neglect to program supervising staff

8. Report any incident, accident, or unsafe conditions to the Extension staff as soon as possible through an in-person report or incident report form.

9. Participate in all required or assigned volunteer training.

10. Be knowledgeable and adhere to all stated policies and guidelines in the UNH Extension Policy & Guidelines.

11. I will not be under the influence or impaired by any substances while working with or participating in any part of the Extension program.

12. I will not commit illegal or abusive acts and will immediately report any potentially illegal acts to both Extension staff and authorities.

13. Handle all money, animals, machinery, equipment, UNH Extension property, or other partner property that has been entrusted to me safely and responsibly.

14. Notify Extension staff if I am unable to complete my volunteer responsibilities, am uncomfortable with any part of my role as a volunteer, or need to resign.
