UNH Extension & Trail Finder are seeking an Accessible Trails Intern to help more people access the outdoors in New Hampshire!
The Accessible Trails Intern will help more people access the outdoors in New Hampshire. They will support the Trail Finder team (a partnership between UNH Extension, Upper Valley Trails Alliance and Community Geographics) by developing a comprehensive list of accessible trails to add to the Trail Finder website, a website that makes it easier for anyone to find trails in N.H. and Vermont.
Primarily we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting people getting outside. Familiarity with trails, environmental conservation, natural resources, environmental stewardship, trail work or similar fields and the ability to work independently are all a plus.
The intern will be part of a cohort of interns who are trained together and intern throughout the state through Extension summer 2025. At the end of the summer, all interns present a poster or presentation to showcase their work and develop communication skills. This is a paid internship ($16/hour) are is expected to work approximately 30 hours per week from June 2-August 8 based on the UNH campus, with travel required (access to a car is necessary). There is the possibility of hybrid work as the summer progresses.
Duties/Responsibilities
The accessible trails intern will:

Research existing accessible trails across N.H.

Visit the trails that need more data collection

Compile data and information for addition to the Trail Finder website

Conduct computer research

Travel to trails across the state to collect data/information (photos, GPS points, descriptions, etc.).
Requirements
