Food Code

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code is a model that local and state agencies nationwide use to protect the safety of foods served and sold in retail, foodservice, and food vending operations. The Food Code addresses a range of food safety related topics, such as food procurement, storage, preparation, and service and employee health and hygiene. The FDA publishes an updated version of the Food Code every four or more years. The latest version represents the agency’s current thinking on protecting foods and safeguarding public health. The State of New Hampshire and self-inspecting jurisdictions within the State currently uses the 2009 version.

Consult your local health department if your facility requires assistance with the adoption of specific practices addressed in the Food Code.
