It is with great sadness that we share news of Tyler Hardy’s passing. Tyler was a sixth-generation orchardist at Brookdale Fruit Farm in Hollis, NH and a beloved husband, father, son and brother. He was also a dedicated volunteer, advocate and friend of UNH Cooperative Extension. Tyler served as a volunteer member of the Hillsborough County Advisory Council for six years from 2011 – 2016, serving as chair from 2015 – 2016. In that time Tyler assisted with guiding the vision and planning of Extension’s regional programming, planning the Centennial celebration in 2014 and providing support to the organization’s funding efforts. He did so with tact, generosity of spirit and enthusiasm for the bright future of farming in New Hampshire.
Tyler was a dynamic, talented and passionate orchardist whose service to the agricultural community is immeasurable. He achieved many accomplishments in his young career, including receiving the New Hampshire Farm Bureau’s Young Farmer Achievement Award in 2016 with his wife, Madison. As the young president of the New Hampshire Fruit Growers Association, elected by his peers, Tyler was known for his sense of adventure in the orchard. Brookdale Fruit Farm is the home of many research trials and orchard experiments, most recently a high-density apple trellis planting with new apple varieties like EverCrisp and Rosalee. His energy, knowledge, curiosity and enthusiasm will be missed deeply.
It is our hope to honor his legacy with a memorial demonstration project. Details are forthcoming.
There will be a viewing from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on June 21, 2019 at the Davis Funeral Home in Nashua, New Hampshire.
A celebration of life will be held for Tyler at the Congregational Church of Hollis at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019.
