Muhammad Adnan Shahid joined UNH Cooperative Extension and the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Food Systems on September 23, 2019 as the State Specialist/Extension Associate Professor in Greenhouse and Nursery Production. He comes to UNH from the Department of Horticultural Sciences, University of Florida where he worked as a biological scientist conducting research and extension in nutrient and water eco-management in vegetable and fruit production. He received a PhD in horticulture from the joint-venture program of University of Agriculture Faisalabad, Pakistan and Cornell University where he studied the effects of abiotic stresses on crop production. Muhammad grew up in an agricultural family, and brings experience in field, greenhouse, and hydroponic crop production.
Muhammad joins Extension’s Landscape and Greenhouse Horticulture area of expertise team as well as UNH’s department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems, where he will develop a research program focused in greenhouse crop production.
Muhammad says, “I am so excited and honored to be part of such a dynamic team of UNH Extension and Department of Agriculture, Nutrition and Food Systems. I am eager to exercise my experience to strengthen the greenhouse industry in the New England area, and particularly in New Hampshire.”
