UNH Cooperative Extension is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Loader as interim director, effective March 2024.
Ken La Valley, who has led UNH Cooperative Extension for the past decade, has stepped down from his position to assume a new role as the leader of UNH Online and Continuing Education.
“Over the last ten years, it has been an incredible privilege and honor to serve as the leader of Cooperative Extension, working alongside such a talented staff and dedicated leadership team. Together, we strived to make a positive impact on the lives of the people in New Hampshire by providing timely, research-based educational resources. I have been immensely proud of the progress we've made, and the significant contributions Cooperative Extension has brought to our state,” he said.
Amy Loader, who has served as associate director for UNH Extension since 2016, brings a wealth of experience, dedication and knowledge to this role. “I am honored to lead Extension because I truly believe in our mission and staff. I am grateful for the mentoring and support provided to me by outgoing director Ken La Valley," she said.
She joined Extension in 2001 as an agriculture educator, assigned to Belknap County (2001 – 2009), followed by Merrimack County (2009 – 2012). As an Extension educator, Amy contributed significantly to the success of sustainable agriculture programs and initiatives in New Hampshire and the Northeast. She also successfully led Extension’s Food and Agriculture Program (2012 – 2016). Her commitment to Extension’s mission and her proven leadership skills make her well-suited for the challenges and responsibilities that come with this position.
Marian McCord, senior vice provost for the UNH Office of Research, Economic Engagement and Outreach, said, “Throughout her tenure with Extension, Amy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to staff while advancing research and education and enhancing the overall impact of Extension programs. Her collaborative approach and strategic thinking have played a crucial role in promoting positive outcomes for the communities we serve.”
Please join all of us in Extension in congratulating Amy Loader on her appointment and let us offer our unwavering support as she takes on this important role!
