On Sunday September 17th, the UNH Cooperative Extension Military Youth and Family Program hosted a Military Family Farm Day at Beech Hill Farm, owned by a long-time 4-H connected farm family.

Military families had an opportunity to learn-by-doing while taking a personal look at the science behind agriculture. They tested the strength of eggshells, planted a terrarium to explore how plants grow, learned about and met some farm animals, had a dog training experience, wound their way through a corn maze, explored a rhododendron nature trail, and little ones played in a giant sand pile. Families also enjoyed sharing time with other Military families, eating their picnic lunches and yummy ice cream for dessert!

UNH Cooperative Extension Youth and Family Program hosted a Military Family Day at beautiful Geneva Point on Lake Winnipesaukee. Military families had fun designing, building and testing their mousetrap powered cars. All over eight years of age got to try their hand at archery, or brushed up on their skills. Even though it was too windy for canoeing this year, families enjoyed time at the beach, activities on the field, and spending time at the children's playground. During the day, a complimentary lunch was served. Families were able to connect with one another and enjoy a nice warm sunny day at the lake.
