Training Opportunities for Prospective Pesticide Applicators

UNH Extension offers pesticide safety training courses designed to help agricultural producers prepare for the state exams required for a pesticide applicator license. These licenses are necessary for applying pesticides in the production of agricultural products such as fruits, vegetables, forage crops, and ornamentals.

Courses are held at three locations across New Hampshire and include two half-days of instruction followed by a third day dedicated to taking the state exams.

The fee for the training is $60.00 per person, which covers both instructional days.

Note: This training does NOT meet the requirements for the Commercial Supervisory Registration Certification-General Use

This course is designed for individuals who are not yet licensed and want to prepare for the New Hampshire state commercial applicator exams, focusing on core topics and pesticide rules and regulations.

The course is held at a central location in New Hampshire and includes a total of 6 hours of instruction.

The training fee is $60.00 per person and covers the full course.

These courses satisfy the training requirements for the entry-level general use commercial applicator's license. Each course consists of two days of instruction. You must attend both days to receive credit. Licensed applicators may also participate in these courses to earn recertification credits. Each course is approved for 8 recertification credits.  To be eligible to take the state exams, completion of both the Core course and Category course(s) are required.

Recertification Courses for Licensed Commercial Applicators – Turf and ROW/Commercial Weed and Brush Control 

These sessions revisit topics presented in category-specific license preparation courses but provide a higher level of instruction appropriate for licensed applicators with some experience in the field.

The UNH Cooperative Extension Pesticide Safety Education Program offers twelve online classes that you can complete from the comfort of your own home. These convenient, self-paced modules are designed to help you build essential knowledge and skills to protect yourself, your family, the public, and the environment from pesticide misuse.

Each training module includes an outline, PowerPoint and/or audio narration, videos and/or assigned readings. At the end of each module, you'll complete a 10-question quiz—pass with a score of 80% or higher to receive a certificate of participation, which you can submit with your license renewal paperwork.

There is no longer a 3-course cap—you can now take as many of these online classes as you'd like to accumulate recertification credits toward your pesticide license renewal.
