The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, Pesticide Safety Education Program offers training to prepare prospective applicators for the private and commercial applicator certification exams.

To be certified as a pesticide applicator, you must take the appropriate exam(s). The certification exams are developed, administered and graded by the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets and Food, Division of Pesticide Control, and the UNH Cooperative Extension. Questions in the exams come from study materials. Order the study materials at least three weeks before taking the training classes and/or the exam to allow adequate time to read and review.

The University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension, Pesticide Safety Education Program offers annual training in late winter/early spring to prepare prospective applicators for private or commercial Initial Pesticide Applicator License exams. Please note that training does not satisfy the requirements for applicators looking to get certified as Supervisory Registration Certification - General Use Applicators.

Attendance at an initial certification training is not required for certification at the operational level. However, it does help direct the studying. Instructors provide a review of the information found in the National Pesticide Applicator Certification Core Manual, NH Code of Administrative Rules, and the Worker Protection Standard for Agricultural Pesticides. Private applicator testing is held on the last day of training at each location.
