2026 Webinar Series for Greenhouse, Nursery & Garden Center Professionals
Join UNH Cooperative Extension and other experts to sharpen and refresh plant production skills. These monthly webinars on a variety of topics are intended to provide practical training for greenhouse, nursery and garden center professionals, although all are welcome to attend.
One New England pesticide applicator recertification credit has been applied for each event.

Proper fertilizer selection, mixing, monitoring and adjustment are critical skills for containerized crop production. Improper fertilizer use results in wrong timing, poor plant quality, wasted money, increased pest and disease pressure, increased incidence of root rots, increased negative environmental impacts and decreased profitability. In this webinar, we will review proper fertilizer selection, handling and mixing techniques as well as how to monitor and fine tune concentrations based on electrical conductivity. We will also look at using UNH Extension's free app to help with these calculations.
Managing pests and disease in greenhouse crops starts with proper sanitation. In this webinar we will learn how to properly sanitize greenhouses: from scheduling crop breaks to cleaning protocols to selecting and using sanitizing agents.
Two-spotted mite ("spider mite") is one of the primary pests in greenhouse production. In this webinar we will learn fundamentals of this mite's life-cycle and environmental preferences as well as cultural, biological and chemical control methods.
June 30 | Weed Management in Greenhouse Crops | Speaker: Prof. Joseph C. Neal, NCSU
Management of weeds in greenhouses poses some peculiar challenges. With the small number of herbicides labelled for greenhouse use, the challenges of application in a closed environment and the wide range of crop species grown, an integrated approach to weed management becomes crucial. This webinar will look at cultural, biological and chemical control of weeds in containerized crops.
We have seen a large increase in the incidence of broad mites and cyclamen mites in greenhouse production in the northeast in the last few years. Too small to see with the naked eye, these pests can spread throughout a greenhouse and cause damage, often undiagnosed until too late. In this webinar, we will learn to identify, understand, prevent and treat these tiny mites.
Botrytis (Gray Mold) is a disease of greenhouse ornamentals that is everywhere and can strike (seemingly) anytime, but some years it is a downright menace, causing damage at the worst possible time. In this webinar we will learn about this fungus and how to manage it using cultural, environmental, biological and chemical tools.
Chemical Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) have become a staple tool for ornamentals growers. In this webinar, we will look at how these products are used and considerations for success and plant safety. We will also learn how to use non-chemical techniques to increase plant quality and potentially decrease unnecessary PGR applications.
Chemical Plant Growth Regulators (PGRs) have become a staple tool for ornamentals growers. In this webinar, we will learn from an industry expert how to properly select, calculate, apply and monitor PGRs.
Root rots in containerized crops are a complex problem requiring a multi-pronged approach to management. In this webinar, we will learn how to diagnose root rots and how to use cultural, chemical and biological tools to prevent, minimize and manage them.
Reading, understanding and following pesticide labels is one of our primary responsibilities as a pesticide applicator. This webinar will be a refresher on how to approach, access and utilize the info on the label. Modern labels may even include a new section or two that weren't there when you first took your Applicator Exam!
