Part of the Workshop Series: The Business of Growing Christmas Trees - from Site Selection to Sales
Join long-time Christmas tree grower Nigel Manley for a session on grading, harvesting, and marketing Christmas trees. Morgan Dube, Entomologist with the NH Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food will explain quarantines and how to navigate them. Jim Frohn, UNH Cooperative Extension Forester for Grafton County, will also assist with the workshop.
We will discuss grading trees and inventory control in wholesale and cut-your-own (CYO) operations, and the challenges of managing CYO and wholesale from the same fields. We’ll also cover wreaths and other value-added products, harvesting methods, timing, trucking, and dealing with quarantines.
This is the second workshop in a series on The Business of Growing Christmas Trees – From Site Selection to Sales
Future sessions being planned include:
- January or February 2025 – Business management for Christmas tree growers
- April 2025 – Site selection and soil testing, site preparation, planting, weed control, fertilizing
Attendees are welcome to participate in any or all of the four workshops offered in this series. While each workshop stands alone, they are designed to be most effective when attended in their entirety.
Registration for this workshop is due October 24. There is a $30 per person registration fee for this event.*
