Trailhead on Shawtown Road
Freedom, NH 03836
United States

GMCG will lead a group snowshoe to Trout Pond in Freedom with Wendy Scribner, Carroll County Extension Forester from UNH Cooperative Extension and members of the Forest Advisory Committee from Freedom.

Participants will enjoy an easy, 1.5-mile round trip for beautiful winter views of the 21-acre Trout Pond located in the 2,661-acre Freedom Town Forest. The forest was established in 2005 as the result of a successful grassroots effort to permanently conserve the property by The Friends of Trout Pond, Green Mountain Conservation Group, and the Trust for Public Land.

This event is open to the public and registration is required. Participants should be physically prepared to climb a moderate incline in winter conditions. Dress appropriately for the weather and with proper footwear. Hiking poles with snow baskets are recommended. A limited number of snowshoes are available to rent for $10/pair. Donations graciously accepted.

Meet just below the kiosk/trailhead off of Ossipee Lake Road in Freedom, located on Shawtown Road past the Danforth Bay Camping Resort.

If you need an accommodation to participate in our programming, please contact Wendy Scribner, wendy.scribner@unh.edu and 603-447-3834 prior to the event.
