seed planter and cover crop in field

Cover crops are important tools in improving or maintaining soil health. This class will provide an introduction to the concept of cover cropping and an overview of species, sowing techniques, and management practices recommended for New Hampshire farms. We’ll also look at the use of no-till seed drills for establishing cover crops, getting familiar with how they work and how to operate them. The program will combine classroom instruction with hands-on learning, and it will provide the opportunity to explore how cover crops may fit on your own operation.

You also have the opportunity to sign up for an additional hands-on driving/planting session  with a tractor and seed planter on Saturday, June 7 at the NH State Forest Nursery (405 Daniel Webster Highway) in Boscawen. You can sign up for a 45-minute one-on-one session between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This session is optional and only open to eight individuals. However, multiple members of the same farm can attend one session.
