
The Governor Matthew G. Bevin Kindness Award will be awarded to a rising Junior or Senior who embodies the mission of 4-H to “make the best better” and reflect the true meaning of kindness and empathy towards others. The recipient will have demonstrated authentic, consistent and far-reaching acts of kindness. Awardee will receive $2,500 towards post-secondary goals.
Open to all enrolled New Hampshire 4-H junior or seniors.

Information You Need to Know
Criteria for Applying
- 4-H member for at least 4 years in total
- Rising Junior or Senior
- County staff verify member eligibility
- Awardee will serve on following year’s Kindness Award Committee
Application Process
- Letter of reference given by (1) peer, (1) volunteer and (1) educator
- Applicant will submit their letters of reference, resume and W-9 via email to Kristen.Lyons@unh.edu
- Fill out the Qualtrics Award Application
- Awardee will be notified in May, with award announced at Teen Conference
How are Applications Evaluated?
Recipients will be selected at the state level by a committee made up of 4-H alum and Extension staff based on their application essay, demonstrated community involvement and financial need.
