The following topics will be covered at this year's Corn and Forage Meeting.

The Crop Season in Review – Carl Majewski & Sarah Allen
An overview of the growing conditions during the past year’s cropping season and the impacts it’s had on corn and forage production. The discussion will focus on challenges with pest management, harvesting, and feed quality, and will include practices that make for more resilient cropping systems

Cover Crop Research at UNH – Natalie Lounsbury
An update of research projects related to cover crops currently going on at UNH, including interseeding cover crops mid-season, use of smultispecies cover crop mixes, and effects of weed populations on establishment

Soil Health and Compaction – Odette Menard
An overview of soil compaction and its effects on crop and soil health. We will discuss the differences between surface and subsurface compaction and what factors lead to each of them, and then focus on best practices for field equipment and cover cropping that minimize the risk of soil compaction and contribute to healthy crops.

Remote Sensing for Crop Health in Silage Corn – John Winchell and Tom Beaudry
This presentation will cover results of a corn hybrid trial conducted at the UNH campus and participating NH dairy farms. In addition to yield and quality data, we will present remote data sensing images used to evaluate crop health and discuss the potential for this technology in early detection of corn disease pressure
