Website Checklist
(quarterly, semi-annually or annually)
Foundations (Before You Even Click ‘Edit’)
  • Google your farm name — What shows up? Look for outdated links, incorrect info, or duplicate listings.
  • Check that your domain name is active and not set to expire soon.
  • Review your site security settings (SSL certificate should be active and automatic HTTPS redirect turned on).
  • Test website speed using a tool like Google PageSpeed Insights (pagespeed.web.dev)

Next, log into your website platform (Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, etc.) on a desktop or laptop to ensure everything is up to date.

Header & Navigation
  • Make sure your farm name/logo appears clearly.
  • Check that your menu navigation works and reflects your current pages.
  • Test all navigation links (home, shop, about, contact, etc.) for accuracy and broken links.
Homepage
  • Review the homepage banner or featured image—replace it if it’s seasonal or outdated.
  • Check any featured buttons (e.g., “Shop Now,” “Sign Up”) for working links.
  • Make sure any highlighted announcements are current (e.g., CSA open, sold out, etc.).
Product, Services, or Sales Pages
  • Check current inventory and remove any out-of-season or sold-out products.
  • Confirm prices are accurate and match your current pricing strategy.
  • Check availability dates or pickup/delivery windows.
  • Test your shopping cart or booking system.
  • Review taxes and shipping settings, if applicable.
Content Pages (About, FAQs, Policies)
  • Read through your ‘About’ page—update staff, years in business or new products/practices.
  • Double-check your contact info and hours. Are the links to call or email you working correctly?
  • Review return/refund/shipping policies for accuracy and clarity.
Forms & Signups
  • Test your contact us form—do the messages reach your inbox?
  • Check subscription sign-up forms. Do submissions get to your newsletter software?
  • Review automated confirmation messages or emails tied to these form submissions.
Images & Media
  • Replace outdated or low-quality images.
  • Add alt text to new images for accessibility and SEO.
  • Remove media that no longer reflects your farm or products.
Mobile Optimization
  • View your site on a phone and/or tablet.
  • Make sure text is readable and buttons are easy to click.
  • Ensure menus and photos load properly.
  • Check that the header scroll is working how you want it to.
Search & SEO
  • Review page titles and meta descriptions—do they clearly describe the page and include useful keywords?
  • Check for broken links throughout the site.
  • Make sure each page has a unique meta description.
  • If using Google Search Console, verify your domain is still connected.
Google Business Profile
  • Confirm your address, hours, and phone number are accurate and match your website.
  • Add new farm photos (stand, market booth, products, team).
  • Remove old services or events no longer offered.
  • Look for duplicate listings and flag/remove them.
Footer & Final Touches
  • Update the copyright year.
  • Check that social media icons link correctly.
  • Review any footer forms (like “Subscribe” boxes).
  • Verify that your business email or contact info is correct.
