In March 2019, we wrote a blog post here describing the current status of hemp production in the state. You can read the post here, but the take-home message was this: Hemp production is currently illegal in NH, because there is no hemp program in the state. A hemp program would require growers, transporters and processors of industrial hemp to be licensed, and the hemp crops would need to be inspected and tested – which requires staff that are trained to conduct the registration, inspection, sampling, approval, and enforcement activities. Currently, various legislative efforts are studying how and whether to proceed with development of a hemp program.
As of November 9 2019, a legislative study committee has been formed to study the potential for hemp production in the state, and they have created a very short survey to measure interest in hemp.
