Meet at The Gatehouse parking lot at The Fells.

Join licensed consulting forester Jeff Snitkin, Forest Society staff, and Extension Forestry Specialists for a guided, free public timber harvest hike/tour of an active site to learn more about forestry. Learn how we choose which trees to remove and which to grow, how we address forest health issues, and how we take climate resiliency into consideration when making forest management decisions. We will share information about the respective roles of landowner, forester, and logger and how to get started managing your own land. You will also learn about the Forest Society’s objectives for owning and managing land. We will answer questions participants might have about all things forestry including current wood markets and the wide range of forest products being produced from trees grown, harvested and sold in NH.

Parking at The Fells Gate House (closed), Newbury. Dress appropriately for winter walking off-trail. Registration is requested.
