Have you ever seen a tractor on a trailer and wondered how it got on there? How is the tractor secured on the trailer so it won’t fall off? Can the trailer handle the weight of the tractor and can the truck pull that much weight?
These are all questions we will be answering at this workshop! Designed to be a live demonstration and interactive class, we will be covering topics that address:
• How to load a tractor safely onto a trailer
• How to secure the equipment onto the trailer
• Options for tie downs such as chains, binders, or ratchet straps
• Understanding what it means to be “ready to transport”
• Knowing what kind of tie downs are needed for your specific situation
Participants will be able to compare and contrast trailer types, equipment, and vehicles for towing and will gain an understanding of how to make sure your vehicle or trailer is appropriate for towing or hauling equipment. This is not a commercial driving training course. While we will discuss what it means to be a commercial operator, this course does not provide any licensure or training intended for commercial operation. This class is helpful for farmers, landowners, and homesteaders who may need to be transporting equipment or operating a truck and trailer as part of an agricultural enterprise.
This workshop is offered free of charge. Funding for this program provided by the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food using ARPA SFRF funds.
