Event Overview for New Hampshire Youth
4-H offers fun and exciting events for youth to learn and showcase their talents! All categories are open to youth 5-18. Cloverbuds (youth 5-7yrs old) will not compete but rather receive feedback about their performance or entry.
- Public Speaking: Youth create and present original speeches on any topic that is 4-H appropriate, learning important communication skills. They may use cue cards to assist with their talking points or create a presentation board as a visual reminder. (With the use of a board the event is better known as an illustrated talk)
- Demonstrations: Demonstrations are an opportunity for members to share something that they know how to do. Youth give a presentation that is enhanced by props and/or posters. They teach a skill while presenting on stage.
- Action Exhibits: Features one to three 4-H'ers presenting a hands-on exhibit involving the audience by showing a process that can be done repeatedly. The goal is to keep the audience engaged and participating. Often this is referred to as a make and take activity, where the audience creates something and leaves with it.
- Talent Showcase: Share your musical, vocal, theatrical, or creative arts for an audience to enjoy!
- Culture and Family History: Share something that is meaningful to you and your family. Demonstrate food, clothing, traditions, dances, songs, or anything that reflects your values, history, or culture for an audience to enjoy.
